Expert Testimony
Barry M. Corkern has testified in more than 50 cases in federal, state and circuit court as an expert on financial management. Why has this become a part of his firm’s expertise?
“Twenty years ago a well-known attorney asked me to help a widow in Jonesboro, Arkansas who was filing suit against an investment advisor who lost her savings in high risk investments,” Barry said. “My testimony got the woman’s money back. It was thrilling to make a difference for someone who was wronged; so when I was asked to do it again, I said yes.”
Although Barry is not currently securities licensed, he has held the NASD General Securities representative and principal, variable annuity/variable life, mutual funds and direct participation licenses. Teamed with his Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst® status, this gives Barry a unique set of experience and credentials most expert witnesses do not have.
He has been designated as one of the best 200 financial planners in the United States by Money Magazine and his firm was rated 54th in a list of the 150 top wealth managers in the United States in Bloomberg Wealth Manager magazine. Additionally, Wealth Manager magazine has rated Barry M. Corkern and Company in the top 250 for the past five years.
Barry is the founding president of the Arkansas Chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), past chair of that organization and received the FPA Lifetime Achievement Award for 2004. He previously hosted a radio program on financial planning and today his television segment on wealth management appears monthly on Today’s THV, the local CBS affiliate.
